Viola Au Naturel

Viola Davis graced the Oscar’s red carpet in a gorgeous, strapless emerald green Vera Wang gown. It’s no surprise that she made an impressive stroll down the carpet, as we’ve come to expect nothing less from the acclaimed actress – but she did manage to have all eyes were on her short locks!

The color complimented her flawless skin, her defined curls were perfection and the drop earrings set off the entire look. People and celebrities at the Academy awards with her took to Twitter, Facebook and blogs to comment on how absolutely STUNNING she looked.
We must thank her husband for the motivation that led to this decision, he wanted her to take the wig off and said, “If you want to wear it for your career, that’s fine, but in your life wear your hair. Step into who you are!”

She’s not giving up the wigs for good; we still will see Viola in a variety of styles. We love her either way and I certainly support a woman’s right to switch up her hairstyle when the feeling hits – wig, weave, or natural!

Action is Truth

“Words seldom carry promise; actions deliver promise.”

Let your actions speak your truth. Honesty is a direct reflection of your inner character – your actions are your voice, the steps you take your words, and your passion is your tone. Words are revered for they communicate; the tone through which they are delivered reveals the passion behind them. Yet this passion must be translated into action…that is where the truth is revealed.

If you feel your truth has been slacking, here are a few ways to bring the practice of honesty back into your daily life:

  • Own and honor your feelings. Is there something (maybe a job or someone in your life) that just does not feel right? Are you being true to yourself by staying with that something or someone?
  • Offer constructive feedback. Disclaimer: Offer your feedback, but be sensitive to the feelings of others, and most importantly, speak in the spirit of love.
  • Forgive yourself and show compassion for others.
  • Take responsibility for your actions. Be truthful and own up to situations instead of making excuses or blaming others.
  • Be truly authentic. Check yourself as you go through your day, and let go of the masks that hide you from being the unique and beautiful person you are.

All of us at the Jane Carter Solution family are mourning the loss of our brother and dear friend Giovanni. He passed last week and will be dearly missed by all!

He traveled as my partner to more hair shows then I can count but more importantly his spirit and what he contributed to my life will never be forgotten. He was one of the most honorable men that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I will miss him from the bottom of my heart.
I am sure he touched everyone that way. His services will be held on Saturday Feb. 25th at 11:00 am at the Zion Baptist Church- 165 Lemon Street, Marietta Georgia- 30060.

RIP G…we love you!

Heat Not Required

AIR DRYING
Air drying the hair instead of sitting under the hooded dryer or blow-dryer is an excellent way to dry our natural hair.  If you are worried about frizz, don’t be.  I know that’s a well known belief that you need heat for a smooth style, but that’s simply not true.  Applying Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner will alleviate frizz, along with smoothing the cuticle and making the hair soft.

ROLLER/ROD SET
It’s not necessary to apply heat from the hooded dryer for a good smooth roller or rod set. Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner along Wrap & Roll will give your roller or rod set the finish it needs to be shiny as well as smooth.

DEEP CONDITIONING
Many believe that deep conditioning must include heat – not so! You can deep condition with Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner with the steam from the shower or even placing a plastic cap on your head. Additionally, the heat from your body will help penetrate the conditioner into the hair shafts.
